OUR BANDOL WINES
-
The Domaine de Frégate produces around 60 000 bottles of red wine, equating to nearly 40% of its global production.
Mainly made up of Mouvèdre, the King of the Bandol grape varieties, it represents on average 75% of our red wines’ blends.
They are very dark in colour, with reflections of red. They offer a powerful and wild nose, with notes of dark fruit, spices and liquorice.
They have a strong mouth feel, with a large tannic structure. With time the tannin softens, making room for a smoother and mellower mouth feel. The olfactory aromas will develop into a bouquet of truffles, woodland smells, leather and dark fruits. -
Producing 75 000 bottles, Rosé represents 50% of the Domaine’s production. After 100% destemming, and treading, rosé wines are made by direct pressing after the cooling of the grape harvest.
The blend is made up of the three main grape varieties of the Bandol wines. Mourvèdre gives it structure and character, Grenache brings balance and aromatic concentration and finally Cinsault adds to the freshness and lightness to our rosés.
With aromas of red berries, citrus fruit and spice, the Domaine de Frégate’s rosé is fine and subtle. It will go excellently with grilled meat, fish, Provençale specialities as well as Asian cuisine.

The Domaine de Frégate white wine comes from white-grained grape varieties, hence why we call it “the white of whites”. It makes up 10% of production, producing around 15 000 bottles. The main grape variety is Clairette alongside secondary grape varieties such as Ugni bland, Rolle (or Vermentino) and Sauvignon. The cold pressing only takes place after a peculiar maceration that lasts several hours, to get a better extraction of aromas.
The elegance of our white wine comes from its aromas of exotic fruits and white flowers. The mouth feel has a rare delicacy and goes excellently with seafood (shellfish), grilled fish, or quite simply as an aperitif.
